Real Estate Title Insurance is Available in Costa Rica

Stewart Title Guaranty Company offers over 100 years of experience working within the property insurance industry. Since the early nineties, Stewart Title has also offered services in the Latin American Region.

Despite any misconceptions there may be in regards to buying property in another country, rest assured that it is a fairly easy process and the costs of insuring your titles are relatively inexpensive. Currently, title insurance runs at 1% of the closing value of your property, or a minimum of $800 USD: A small price to pay for the peace of mind it affords.

Title Search in Costa Rica

We want your purchase experience to run as smoothly as possible, so we conduct a thorough search of the property's title history.

We look for past liens, mortgages, easements and anything that might affect your decision to purchase. Then we clearly explain to you the status of the title history. If a property seems to be too troublesome, we will advise you to walk away from that purchase.

 

Costa Rica Title Registration

Once the paperwork has been completed for your corporation and/or property transfer, we register all the changes with the National Registry. Because our main office is located very near the Registry, we are able to maintain effective communication with the Registry and thereby expedite the process.

It takes the National Registry approximately 15 days to three weeks to process title registrations. We'll notify you once the title has been duly recorded and send you detailed instructions explaining how to use the National Registry's online database so you may check for yourself anytime and from anywhere in the world.
